Many people have asked if the homeowner needs the original Engineered Flood Vent Certification when using flood vents and applying for flood insurance. My answer is no. I have relied on NFIP Underwriting Bulletin , dated October 23, 2008 for my answer. “For engineered openings designed for installation in a specific building, a copy of the certification is required.” Does anyone have any additional information from FEMA or NFIP on this topic?
